How to play

DD Sand Sort Puzzle replaces liquids and balls with granular sand that flows, settles, and stacks with realistic physics. Each vessel holds layers of colored sand, and your goal is to pour between vessels until every container holds a single color. The physics-based movement adds a tactile, almost therapeutic quality to every pour.

How DD Sand Sort works

Tap a vessel to select it, then tap another to pour. Sand transfers from the top of the source vessel to the top of the target — but because sand settles and layers form gradually, the visual feedback feels different from instant liquid or ball transfers. You can only pour if the target vessel has room and the top color matches (or if the vessel is empty).

What makes sand sorting unique

  • Physics-based settling: Sand does not instantly stack — it flows and settles naturally, which can reveal or hide colors at the edges
  • Partial fills matter: Some layers may be thin, others thick. A half-full color might seem like enough for a pour but leave incomplete stacks
  • Satisfying animations: The granular pour effect is visually rewarding in a way that liquid and ball sort games are not

DD Sand Sort strategy

  1. Watch partial fills carefully. A thin sand layer might not provide enough material for a complete pour. Count visible grains before committing.
  2. Settling can shift the board. After major pours, sand resettles — colors you thought were on top might shift slightly. Re-evaluate after each big move.
  3. Keep an empty vessel. This rule holds across all sort games, and sand sort is no exception. An empty vessel is your staging ground.
  4. Prioritize deep pours. Pouring from the bottom of a full vessel sometimes frees more colors than pouring from the top. Experiment with pour direction.
